Redneck Sprinklers

This is the view from my backyard in the summer. Isn't it gorgeous? I just love living where I grew up. The irrigation system or "pivot" as my dad refers to it, was running last week. It brought back a fond memory of my sister Mitzi and I riding bikes in our swimsuits under it. (Tears! Mitzi, we had a great time didn't we?)So what did the sappy girl do? Suited up the kids and myself and ran around under the pivot!! Had a blast!

Randi was the only one who cooperated with the camera. Gotta love that girl!

Can you see the water coming down through the live oak branches? Under the tree it was like a fine mist. Perfect for the scorcher-of-a-day we were having.

I love this one of my girl. Always trying to catch rain on her tongue. So glad I got to bring this great memory to life for my kids. :)

Tangled Update

Tangled family night was a success! It was a little tricky getting it together since we were out for Spring Break, schedules were off and we were busy visiting with family and getting ready for our annual girls & kids trip. But Wednesday night Randi would not stop asking about it. So Mitzi, my awesome sis, and I threw it together at the last minute. For each "Y" in the path of Rapunzel's hair we asked her questions like, "What if someone told you, you're not special?" Randi's responses were great! It's amazing to see what they're soaking in and you don't even realize it. Even though it was later in the night and kinda thrown together, I'm so glad we did it. At the end I had her Rapunzel dress up outfit, a crown and a homemade card for her telling her how special she was to us and to her Heavenly Father. It was hard not to cry as I was telling her how much she is loved! She enjoyed it too and even told me, "This was the best night ever Mama!"
P.S. Rhett participated too but I modified it for him using boy "stuff" and much simpler questions. He enjoyed getting tangled in the yarn the best!

Tangled Family Night!

Every week our family has a "Family Nite" where we eat a meal together at the same time and spend some quality time with each other. Sometimes it is simply watching a movie together or playing a game. Other times we'll read the scriptures or have a lesson together. For our family, having family night is a challenge with Ryan's coaching responsibilities and Randi's dance and gymnastics nights. But I am glad when we can find a night to spend together. I found this lesson that uses the kids' favorite movie right now, Tangled. The lesson uses parts from the movie to teach the important lesson: that we are ALL daughters/sons of a King! It is super easy and doesn't require a lot of materials. I can't wait to try it!
